2nd MUBES of UDC

 

Right now, UDC isn't just a simple organization in Unismuh Makassar, but will be a great Organization Ever!! Registrants of UDC this year increased 100% from the previous year, 127 applicants this year for the second wave are excited to enter the UDC, because they believe the UDC is place they thrive. With the achievement of UDC members who become student ambassadors at various events of national and international competitions. With final selection, we got 13 New Debaters of UDC.
Mr.Irsak as The President od UDC 2011/2012 dis their best, now time to 2nd Mubes. Awaluddin Arma, Suardi Amity and Fardi are candidates of the next President of UDC 2012/2013. More than 30 Members of UDC came to show their choice for the next UDC. And finally, fardi elected president of UDC period 2012/2013. This is a new spirit of Unsimuh Debaters. Fardi is English Department Student in Third Semester, with the determination to become a member UDC this year is proof he can lead the UDC future. Go Debaters!!!

Debate Seminar and World Anlyze Simulation for New Members of UDC Unismuh

 

New members of UDC are accepted shall follow the debate seminar and public speaking. In addition to the seminar debates, new members also obliged to follow the World Anlyze Simulation. Such as the Model United Nations, international organizations or multiple models. That simulation discusses issues of Economic, Social and other Issues. These programs are giving benefits for the new members to be ready to follow the National debate competition or International event. It is also manifest that the UDC is the best community in Makassar Muhammadiyah University.

The Selection of New Member Candidate is different with Last Year 2011

2012, More than 4000 New students of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar (Unismuh) was passed on July 2012. Unismuh Debater Club (UDC) would open the registration for New Members 2012 on October. The selection on 2012 is really different with Last Year. Fluent in English and Critical Thinking are as major capital to be accepted in UDC.

Another Brief Conceptualization of Critical Thinking

Critical thinking is self-guided, self-disciplined thinking which attempts to reason at the highest level of quality in a fair-minded way.  People who think critically consistently attempt to live rationally, reasonably, empathically.   They are keenly aware of the inherently flawed nature of human thinking when left unchecked.  They strive to diminish the power of their egocentric and sociocentric tendencies.  They use the intellectual tools that critical thinking offers – concepts and principles that enable them to analyze, assess, and improve thinking.  They work diligently to develop the intellectual virtues of intellectual integrity, intellectual humility, intellectual civility, intellectual empathy, intellectual sense of justice and confidence in reason.  They realize that no matter how skilled they are as thinkers, they can always improve their reasoning abilities and they will at times fall prey to mistakes in reasoning, human irrationality, prejudices, biases, distortions, uncritically accepted social rules and taboos, self-interest, and vested interest.  They strive to improve the world in whatever ways they can and contribute to a more rational, civilized society.   At the same time, they recognize the complexities often inherent in doing so.  They avoid thinking simplistically about complicated issues and strive to appropriately consider the rights and needs of relevant others.  They recognize the complexities in developing as thinkers, and commit themselves to life-long practice toward self-improvement.  They embody the Socratic principle:  The unexamined life is not worth living, because they realize that many unexamined lives together result in an uncritical, unjust, dangerous world.
